plans & Scope

Yes! Forge Online Personal Training is a comprehensive personal fitness solution with a specialization in exercise program design. We develop workout plans for individuals of all levels for the gym or at home. We use mobile app technology to deliver workout plans right to your device so you can workout literally anywhere. We also communicate with our clients via Skype for face-to-face coaching and leverage unlimited messaging right in the Forge mobile app interface. All plans are built based on your current condition and goal with a progressive and effective design. We take the guess work out of exercise and meal planning. Note: The 90 Day Body Transformation program includes the Premium nutrition plan!

Each Forge meal plan consists of 3 separate revolving menus that allows you to swap like meals and add consistency to your shopping, perpetration and consumption. Some clients prefer to cycle one plan every day for 3 days and repeat while keeping an open or free day to mix and match. Other clients mix and match meals throughout the week to add variety or because they like certain meals. These plans are recommended to be used for 4-6 weeks and then clients are encouraged to refresh the options and allow us to evaluate any composition changes that may require an adjustment to calories or macro rations as they begin to see results and their metabolic rates change.
Partially. Each meal plan in our licensed software has been developed by a team of Registered Dietitians. To be clear, we use a third-party software program to which we hold a license and we compile a meal recommendation plan for you based on your height, weight, age, gender, activity level and food preferences. We do not correspond or consult with the RD team about any program we create or make alterations outside of their template recommendations. This is not a clinical or medically supervised program intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or illness.
Yes, the ability to speak to your trainer via Skype sets Forge apart from all other online fitness programs. the “Complete” and “Premium” plans are ideal for connecting with your personal trainer to get answers to questions or enjoy some coaching and encouragement. If you feel having a connection to a personal trainer would benefit you, we recommend the “Complete or “Premium” plans. The “Standard” plan is perfect for people who need a plan to get our of a rut or get some fresh ideas on food preparation and management and don’t need a coach.
Yes. We are able to build a limited option menu suggestion plans for individuals avoiding gluten, soy or lactose. We do not claim 100% accuracy as food manufactures, production facilities and other factors can influence the purity of food products. Our plans are intended to give approximate guidelines based on your condition, goal and preferences and are not clinical or medically supervised.
Yes. We are able to deliver menu plans that follow the guidelines of Pantothenic diets or other protein focused plans. We do not make any claims or endorsement that a Paleo diet is better than or preferable to a balanced or holistic approach. We build plans based on our clients preferences and this includes specialized programs such as Paleo.
Yes, our licensed software system allow us to eliminate certain foods and food groups to meet the tastes of our clients. Please fill out the Food Preference Questionnaire thoroughly so we can be sure to include only foods you like into your plan. If for some reason, a food you dislike appears on your menu, please notify your trainer and indicate the day, meal and item in your plan that we need to exchange. “Standard” level clients get one free exchange and “Complete” and “Premium” customers enjoy unlimited edits and food exchanges.
We strongly recommend individuals with diagnosed food allergies or intolerance seek a medically supervised program or work directly with a Registered Dietitian.  Our programs are for generally healthy adults who’s physicians have not restricted their food or exercise lifestyles.
It’s unlikely…and it is unlikely you will enjoy much success with any nutrition program or meal plan if you are unwilling to take the time and manage the quality and volume of your food consumption. However, some individuals have learned portion control and have a basic understanding of their food response/caloric volume as it relates to their total energy expenditure. These people are rare and have found a balance over time without calorie counting. If you are seeking assistance with a meal plan it is reasonable you would need to count your calories for a period in order to better understand your physiology and learn portion control.
Very. After you complete the Food Preference Questionnaire, we will have a good understanding of your current condition and ultimate goal. In addition, we will know what common foods you dislike so we avoid adding them to your plan. This is more than template meal plans for calories, we take you carbohydrate, protein, fat and water need into account as well.  Finally, we are able to eliminate certain food groups such as gluten, lactose or even soy. Our plan design is ideal for generally healthy adults with clearance from their physician to participate in non-clinical fitness and food management programs.
Unless you hire a personal chef, you are responsible for the shopping, preparation and consumption of your food. We do not prepare or ship the items listed in your meal plan. However, we do know of services out there that do!
Your trainer is a Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach and Fitness Nutrition Specialist. We will educate clients on best practices and assist in the development of meal plan options based on credentials held from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-FNS) and the National Exercise Sports Trainer Association (NESTA-FNC) related to nutrition. The real power of how Forge works with clients on nutrition is with education, positive accountability and electronic journaling through MyFitnessPal, which links directly to the Forge app. Forge trainers do not claim to possess dietary degrees, registered or otherwise, and will certainly not provide medically based nutritional advice.
To be clear, any personal trainer that claims to be able to prescribe a detailed, clinically structured nutrition program as part of their services is working outside the personal trainer scope of practice. Unless of course, they are registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and are a Registered Dietitian (RD). Many states do not require a license or higher education to call oneself a “nutritionist” and this allows trainers to market diet and meal planning. This is especially true in the “weight loss” and “figure competition/bodybuilding” markets. Forge will only provide basic nutrition education and write menu suggestions and opinions about food choices, caloric intake, meal timing, shopping lists and preparation. Forge trainers do not claim to possess dietary degrees, registered or otherwise, and will certainly not provide medically based nutritional advice.
